In brief: See below
Hematuria (blood in urine), pain, cachexia (weight loss) and voiding problems are common in this most unfortunate situation.

In brief: It depends.
It depends probably on the therapy the a patient receives for bladder cancer.
If superficial, the treatment is endoscopy, which can be painful after it is done. If it is invasive, surgery to remove the bladder is done, and this has pain and complications. If surgery cannot be done, radiation is used, which has its complications. Finally, metastatic disease gets chemotherapy with side effects.
