In brief: It varies
Autism is an incredibly complex problem that manifests itself in many ways.
If you are looking for a simple answer like you would get for a simpler disease (eg: chicken pox causes fever and rash), then you will be frustrated. There are books on this subject....Big ones. If you are concerned that your child is autistic, you need to see your pediatrician or a pediatric neurologist.

In brief: Impairments in
Reciprocal social interaction & social communication + repetitive, non-functional movements manifest differently at different developmental ages.
Fill out the developmental & autism-specific screens on www.Firstsigns.Org & take them to your pediatrician, to help your child & others in the practice. You can find " red flags" on the aap's healthy child app or www.Aap.Org. Early intervention is key.

In brief: Not all but a few..
Symptoms in ASD are often social & language related.
A child may seem hearing-impaired because they don't respond to their name; may have severe sensory or mood regulatory problems due to anxiety or sensory overstimulation; may not speak; nor play with peers. Parents will comment their child seems to ignore, be indifferent to, or even resist affection. Trust your instinct and seek help if worried.
