In brief: DPH & Asthma, glauco

Diphenhydramine(dph), benadryl, (diphenhydramine) is an antihistaminic having an Atropine like effect, i.
e. In asthma is dries up secretions in the bronchi ( the respiratory pipes), thus it worsens asthma. In glaucoma it can precipitate an acute angle closure glaucoma, yes it is unwise to use it. On other side effect is lethargy and in pregnancy it is also unwise to unnecessarily sedate the fetus. So, yes yes yes.

In brief: Asthma

Benedryl is generally safe for asthmatics.
The secretion drying effect is minimal. Just don't push the dose very high.
