Following retinal detachment surgery, my central vision is now pinched. Will this improve over time?

In brief: Maybe

Depends on reversible or irreversible causes.
Pinched vision is waviness? Or maybe post retinal surgery with wrinkled retina. If there is heme or swelling in the fovea (macula) that resolves, then vision can improve. If there is scar in the fovea, then the vision won't improved.

In brief: Maybe a little

One of the complications of retinal reattachment surgery is abnormal central vision.
"pinched" vision is somewhat common, but cannot necessarily be specifically treated. A proper retinal evaluation to see if there is scar tissue pulling on the retina, which may be treatable, is a good start. If there is nothing abnormal visible/detectable with testing, it may improve over time a little.

In brief: Maybe

If the macula was involved, the prognosis is guarded.
Since the macula is the most sensitive part of the central vision it is essential to treat retinal detachments quickly.
