What are some solutions for a child who overreacts negatively at school?

In brief: What makes him react

Kids respond differently to situations at different ages.
You do not mention your child´s age, but in any event try to pinpoint when and with whom he acts out. Is it specific to a certain teacher or individual? To a certain subject or another child? Is the child learning and is the experience pleasurable? Does you child have any hearing or vision problems? Do you have similar issues @ home?

These are questions that must be answered in order for a child mental/behavioral health professional to search for the underlying cause of the behaviors. Request a classroom observation by the school psychologist without your child's knowing that his behavior is being assessed. In brief: EDUCATION

Child should be treated with a lot of patience and encouragement.
Teacher must be good to him, love him inspite of negative attitude in school. Soon he will find friends who will respect and help him learn in school.

In brief: If a child is acting

out inappropriately for his age, he deserves evaluation by a child psychiatrist or developmental/behavioral pediatrician & a child psychologist to determine the cause.
Behavioral, like medical, symptoms require diagnosis to determine treatment. Ask the teacher if a Functional Behavioral Assessment can be done, observation of the antecedent, behavior & consequence by the school psychologist. also.
