What's the biggest challenges of managing osteoporosis? My mom was just diagnosed at the age of 55.

Life-long treatment. Currently therapies osteoporisis are decently effective, but require long-term treatment. Medications can be given once a wk, once a month, or even 2x/year options, but calcium supplements/vit d, and weight-bearing exercises are also very important and these require more committment. You/mom should consult with doc for best therapy for her. Good luck.
