In brief: Dermatitis

Probably a dermatitis of the ear canal skin.
Usually this is aggravated by your using q-tips or otherwise trying to clean your ears. Try some over the counter 1% Hydrocortisone cream in the ear applied with a clean finger 4 times a day. Stay away from cleaning your ears as a rule.

Also, ask your ENT about whether there's any allergy component- there's a topical preparation called 'DermOtic". Do not take it if you're allergic to peanuts, though.
