In brief: No

There is no known way to prevent myopia.
It is familial in many cases. There seems to be more people becoming myopia when a population becomes more urban (instead of rural), and when the society gets industrialized and educated. It is not known if myopia is worsened by close-up reading, close-up computer screens or tv's, less time spent outdoors, inadequate light indoors, etc...

In brief: No

Myopia, which is the refractive error that causes blurry distance vision is essentially of genetic origin.
Whether or not someone requires eye glasses for distance vision has nothing to do with whether or not that person spends time indoors or outdoors. Also the gradual worsening of myopia is also a predetermined situation. There is no intervention that will halt the progression.
