IBD or IBS: Cramping, pain, loose stools, but not frequently. Possibly small specs of blood in stool rarely. Does this mean Chrohns or IBD over IBS?

Can't tell. No way to tell from the info. If there is truly blood then IBD must be a consideration, but plenty of people with IBS have blood related to constipation or hemorrhoids or another common cause. Best to see your doc for an exam. The real test is some sort of endoscopy with a direct look at the inside of your intestine and consideration of biopsy. Read more...

Talk w/your doctor. Your own physician is carrying out a careful evaluation of your complaints, and this is in process. Ulcerative colitis and other causes are possible with these symptoms. Please continue to work with your doctor on these issues so you can get any treatment you may need. Hopefully your colon will be examined too. Good luck to you. Read more...

I have been dealing with bloating/gas, frequent loose soft stools, and diarrhea. I blood in stool tonight. Gi says ibs, I'm 27 what is your opinion?

Probably IBS. Blood in stool is not characteristic of ibs, but people with ibs can have blood in their stool from other sources. If you had a thorough eval including scope ( and i suspect that is the case), GI is probably correct. If you have not had a thorough eval then all bets are off. Read more...
