Hi metformin is sometimes given to women with PCOS and can increase ovulation in PCOS. But has not been shown to help increase fertility that is having a baby. This is from the cochrane collaboration.

Glucophage can increase the number of ovulation is that women with PCOS can have but it is not shown to increase fertility per se that is increase the likelihood of having a baby. See www.ncbi.nlm.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0048142/
