In brief: Numbness/tingling
Carpal tunnel syndrome (cts) causes numbness, tingling and sometimes pain in the thumb, index, long and the radial half of the ring finger. As the median nerve compression persists, the muscles in the thumb can atrophy and the tips of the fingers can lose sensation.
See a board certified orthopaedic hand surgeon for evaluation and oral/injectable steroids, splints, therapy and/or surgery.

In brief: Numbness & Tingling
The most common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include: numbness, tingling, & pain in the hand an electric shock-like feeling mostly in the thumb, index, & long & part of the ring finger. Symptoms usually begin gradually, without a specific injury.
Symptoms may occur at any time. Because many people sleep with their wrists curled, symptoms at night are common & may awaken you from sleep.

In brief: Carpal tunnel
Typical symptoms of cts include pain, numbness, and tingling in the thumb, index, and long finger. In early stages, symptoms are intermittent.
Untreated, symptoms become more regular, and you can develop weakness in the hand. Initial treatment includes nsaids and night splints. Good luck.
