In brief: 24 hours

The half life of metoprolol tartrate is 3-7 hours which means that about every 5 hours your body will clean out half of the drug in your blood stream. After about 4 half lives 95% of the drug is out of your system (assuming you are not taking any more) but some people have said their blood pressure will stay controlled 3-5 days after stopping the drug.
