At work a resident squeezed & twisted my wrist about two weeks ago. It is very painful and has been swollen and bruised. Could it be broken?

In brief: Probably not

but you do have a sprain, microscopic rupture of collagen fibers, needs immobilization.

In brief: Could be

There could be a bone fracture, or damage to other structures in your wrist.
It would be unusual to have a bone fracture, however, from that mechanism of injury. You would feel a very tender point somewhere along the bone if that were the case. Most likely it's damage to the "soft tissues" in the wrist, but to be sure, a thorough history and physical examination by your doctor is recommended.
