Just had surgery for appendicitis only had one bowel movent in 3 days little movement only feel blocked what can I do to help?

Post-op. it can take the bowels some time to return to normal speed of functioning. You can help by drinking lots of fluids, eating a high fiber diet, and making sure that you are walking. A stool softener such as colace (docusate sodium) for a couple of days can also help. If your symptoms are not improving, if you start having increased abdominal pain, or you begin to vomit let your surgeon know immediately.
Laxative. Inflammation from appendicitis and narcotics for pain will lead to bowel slowing. Minimize narcotics, use Miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily, adequate fluids, increase physical activity. Seek care if having vomiting or increasing pain.
