In brief: Outcome varies

If there is compression of one of the nerve roots it is sometimes equivalent to a "pinched nerve" .
This type of physical compression of a nerve root can result in a radiculopathy. The outcome is variable. Sometimes over a period of days - weeks the radiculopathy will spontaneously improve. If you start noticing difficulty in pinching (weakness) of your thumb and index finger then check with MD.

In brief: Rarely is it serious

& yes pinched nerve causing pain into arm is cervical radiculopathy.
90% are treated non op & get better-10% require surgery with > 90% success rate. Rarely do disc herniations cause any significant neurologic or nerve injuries with only 20% of herniations leading to any neurologic findings on exam. See a neurologist, neurosurgeon, orthopedic spine surgeon or physiatrist or pain management.
