Breast Imaging. Occurs after finding a lump, or on a screening mammogram. The u/s can show if the lump is cystic or solid, with color, vascularity, and estimate charcteristic of benign or malignant. Current u/s is hand held, done by a tech, and reviewed by a radiologist. It can provide size and shape information, and see if there are other lesions.
It looks. Like a solid mass different from the surrounding breast tissue. It may be smooth or irregular in contour and may or may not have associated blood flow changes in it. Sometimes calcifications are identified.
