Combinations of antispasmodic drugs with tranquilizers and sedatives (including barbiturates) were very popular in the 60s and 70s. They are used mostly to treat irritable bowel syndrome. The best treatment starts with more fiber in diet, and then antispasmodic drugs. Tranquillizers are rarely indicated, and can cause dependency.
