What do you suggest if my mom has a pacemaker why would she still need to take 80 mg of beta pace 3 times a day?

In brief: Atrial fibrillation?

I assume she has atrial fibrillation? Betapace (sotalol) helps prevent recurrent episodes of AF.
A side effect is that it makes the heart beat too slowly or even pause in susceptible people and when that occurs, a pacemaker is necessary to counteract that side effect. The pacemaker by itself won't stop the AF.
