What does having a high serum IgA mean?
Usaully gut! Inflammation of the GI tract, usually subclinical, is present in all the seronegative arthopathies and IgA is frequently elevated. It is mostly made from lymph tissue ligning the small intestine, called peyer's patches. It is also elevated in regional enteritis and crohn's of the small intestine. In an older person, multiple myeloma must be excluded.

- Kappa/lambda FLC ratio high (2.75) w/ normal K (10.21mg/dl) & low L (3.68mg/dl). Hem-onc unsure if ratio implies K monoclonality since serum/urine IFE ok & neither chain is elevated. Could monoclonal K be suppressing L? IgA a bit high IgG &IgM a bitlow
- Is elevated kappa/lambda ratio on serum FLC test inherently monoclonal, even if neither kappa or lambda is elevated? Ratio high b/c lambda is low, not because of high kappa. SPEP/UPEP & IFE normal. High IgA, low IgG. Clean marrow biopsy. Polyclonal?
- Went for urinalysis test - all ok but complement C3 & C4 serum low and total IgA high. Hv hep c n cirohsis, low bp, taking diuretic. Pl advice?
- High albicans, igg, iga, and igm. Serum iron and % sat high, T4 low, and folate (folic acid) low-help where do I start? Have celiac disease.
