How do you handle a woman who is prone to fits of rage over insignificant issues?

In brief: See Below
Are you able to openly talk to her? You might want to consider couples or family therapy to help you communicate your concerns and assess the general state of the dynamic of your relationship.
Another thing, what seems insignificant to you, might be significant to her and this alone might trigger the conflict. Get help and good luck!

Certainly agree that there may be differences in the appreciation of what is "significant", but rage reactions to almost anything are seldom appropriate. This woman may need the help of somebody like you.

she may have Bipolar with severe anxiety-instability of mind and mood always on the edge and a simple trigger can lead to uncontrolled behavior. How frequent you trigger her rage? She drinks? and you drink? very frequently go together regretfully
