Versed (midazolam) is a medication in the same family as valium.
It helps relax you and provides sedation for procedures such as endoscopy or minor surgery. It can be used before general anesthesia as a premedication to help you relax. Usually the only effects are drowsiness and amnesia. If you are having general anesthesia, other drugs will be needed in addition.
