Keflin is what we call a 1st generation cephalosporin.
It has good gram positive activity but poor gram negative.Usually it was used for prophylactic orthopedic surgery but not used much anymore with better same class agents (cefazolin).

Cephalothin (Keflin) and cefazolin (Ancef) are very similar except that the latter drug can be given less often...Gram negative is not poor, but not great for hospital acquired gram negative bacilli
