In brief: Different things

Immunoglobulin could be elevated in many different conditions such as infections, inflammation , other chronic diseases as well as certain blood malignancies.
My suggestion is to go to see your pmd and discuss further with your doc. If the level is significantly high or if it is suspicious then your doc can refer you to see a specialist- a hematologist/oncologist for further investigation.

In brief: How high?

Minimally elevated probably not worth worrying about.
Very high requires a test - serum immunoelectrophoresis - to rule-out multiple myeloma.
