Had hernia surgery yesterday. Dr prescribed Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) for pain, 1-2 tablets every 4 hours. Took 1 with minimal improvement should I increase dose to 2?

In brief: Yes

There are different doses of Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) available, however, it is safe to increase the dose to 2 pills at times in the first 1-2 days after surgery as the prescription reads, as long as the frequency is NOT increased

In brief: Yes

If the minimum amount did not work, then try increasing the dose up to the maximum on the prescription.
That level has been evaluated by your doctor as being safe for you.
