In brief: Disease and Disaster

The vectors of disease in disasters include contaminated water, contaminated food, and exposure to the natural elements.
Clean water, clean food, and access to shelter and warmth are critical. Without it, exposure to the elements, germs in contaminated food and water, and lack of hygiene expose one to infection, shock, and starvation of nutrients as well as the cold and temperature change.
