Can you catch sexually transmitted infections through oral sex?

Definitely. Common STD's that are transmitted via oral sex are herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. HIV can also be transmitted, especially if there are sores in the mouth. HPV can be transmitted as well, although would be difficult to test for it in the mouth. If you are concerned, be sure to tell your provider you are concerned about an oral STD so they can do the right type of testing (oral swab)
