Preventive Medicine

In brief: Years, change tools

Atenolol Does Not have the best track record for helping reverse LVH; ACEI & carvedilol, along with adjusting to keep low normal BP (such as the values you quoted) does.
For ACEI, use ramipril because rarely ?es BP much, even at 10 mg/day. Adjust Carvedilol up slowly, from very low dose. Also check BP when under emotional stress; use more accurate BP gauge (Hg best or Omron 10 Plus) & graph values

Do not take the findings you were told as gospel; the issues are NEVER that simple; data quality & accurate interpretations of data/images in the medical industry are, sadly, often not that high. Thus get a copy of all the images of your echocardiogram (e.g. on a CDROM, software to view should also be on the CDROM) and carefully study them yourself. Do Not Assume you will not understand: you can!
