Depot Provera (medroxyprogesterone) Depot Provera (medroxyprogesterone) a synthetic analogue of Progesterone works by suppressing the normal release of pituitary gonadotropins that results in the normal menstrual cycle. Once the suppressive effect is removed, in time, the normal ovulatory cycle should resume. With resumption of the cycle release of lh & FSH fertility should resume.
I had unprotected sex for 6 years after my son was born. I got the Depo-Provera shot about 6 years ago as well and still have not had no luck conceiving?
Infertility. I am sorry to repot but you will not discover the cause of your infertility on the internet. You need a thorough evaluation and testing at a good fertility clinic.
I've been on the Depo-Provera shot for 5 yrs. Is being on the shot for so long going to risk me not being capable of conceiving a child now that im off it?
No. Should not be a problem. There might be a transition time for your natural cycles and hormones to re establish though.
I have stopped the Depo-Provera shot after being on it for a year. Is there anything I can do to up my chances of conceiving sooner then average time?
Fertility Treatment. You will need to wait, on average 6-9 months but potentially up to 18 months for the full effect to wear off. Only a fertility specialist can speed up fertility in this case.
Can you help me know more about conciving a baby? I was on Depo-Provera for nine months but that was almost 4 years ago but I haven't had a peroid on my own
See an OB/GYN. You need a thorough evaluation. Speculation on the internet will not do you any good. Go and get seen, and good luck.
Can I get pregnant after 3 years of Depo-Provera shot. I've been trying to concieve For 18 months now. 28 years old. Regular period. 29 day cycles.?
Theoretically yes. After the time of getting off the shot, you should be able to get pregnant. Your hormones are working as you are having periods. It may take time and you might want to see your gyn for a thorough exam. This doctor can give you better answers and maybe help you get pregnant. Best wishes.
See your Gyn soon. Occasionally takes more than a year to resume periods. However one may be pregnant right now without a period.
I previously had 2 babies in 2010 & 2012 went on the Depo-Provera shot from Feb to Aug 2014. 3 shots injected. It's been 5 months no period or pregnancy. Why?
Depo. It can take up to 1 year after the last shot for you to have a period. Median time to conception is usually 10 months.
Lingers. Depoprovera must be used every 3 months to prevent pregnancy effectively. Once you stop taking it it slowly begins to wear of. Some go back to normal immediately but others can take up to one year to ovulate and return to normal cycles.
That's the purpose. The Depo is for contraception. But it is reversible.
