Radiation Oncology
3 doctors agree
In brief: About $3000
Medical oncology is for chemo; not radiation.
2 week course of palliative radiation is about $3000 and is almost always covered by insurance.

Of interest current data suggests that 20% of all radiation therapy is given with 2 weeks of death. This is not to say that the treatment is not indicated, but they we don't have a good idea of who benefit most from paiiiative treatments either chemotherapy or radiation.

In brief: Cost can vary
Depending upon the symptom and region of the body being treated, the length of the course of therapy and cost can vary.
Many uncomplicated bone metastases can be treated in a single fraction of therapy with routine treatment techniques and typically costs less than $1000. Treatment to address brain metastases or relieve obstruction in the lung may require 2--3 weeks and cost thousands of dollars.
