In brief: Chemotherapy

Treatment of pancreatic cancer like many cancers involves surgical oncologists( surgery), medical oncologists (chemotherapy) and radiation oncologist (radiation).
Chemotherapy is usually Gemzar (gemcitabine) or 5-fu based. There are some existing new drug combinations recently that has helped improve outcomes.

In brief: Pancreas is

Complex: tail different than head/neck & body.
The tail produce hormones: insulin, gastrin, glucagon. One can use medical management of these. If possible, excision is the only curative route for other locations, using chemo +/- XRT before or after. These are some of the most challenging cancers, not to be trifled with.
