With a spinal cord injury do you ever get the urinate and bowel movement on your own back?

In brief: Depends on severity

However injury is usually permanent.
Plenty of research into nerve repairs & some success in joining spinal nerves from above injury site to nerves below injury site. Time will tell but there are new advances all the time. Bowels can often be retrained with digital stimulation. Bladder control depends upon level of injury, dexterity, possible intermittent bladder self catheterization & meds.
