In brief: Depends

The long term effects of having cancer as a baby are dependent upon what type of treatment was rendered.
Surgery- on what organs, if any. Radiation- on what organs. Chemotherapy- what drugs and how long. Each modality of treatment carries with it its own unique set of both short and long term side effects and risks.

In brief: Childhood cancer

There are tremendous consequenses to our kids that are treated for cancer with surgery, radiation, and chemo.
They live a long time and can have all kinds of side effects for the rest of their lives. Specifically whatever was done will leave a "mark" or scar.Surgery and radiation are obvious in the areas they were directed, chemo is a little more tricky. Follow up forever!
