Pediatrics
In brief: Resistance to drugs
Strep can be resistant to a great number of antibiotics that is the problem partially caused by the overuse of antibiotic for unnecessary treatments strep use to be best treated with Ampicillin but has become in many cases resistant.
Only if your child is allergic to penicillin would Erythromycin or cephalosporin be used. The first choice is Ampicillin and if that is not working a switchto amox.
