Wanted to know if babies generally wake up at night crying because they are hungry?

In brief: Yes

Babies usually need to eat every 3-4 hours in the first month or 2.
After a while, that time will start to stretch. Babies can also wake up and cry if they are uncomfortable with gas, wet or dirty diaper, etc. Older babies, who haven't learned to fall asleep on their own, may wake up out of habit, even when they don't need to eat at night. If your baby wakes frequently, see your doctor.
