They can. Cold sores are caused by a herpes virus. It is quite contagious so yes your baby can get herpes from another person and herpes virus stay dormant in our body and can reactivate any time in the future. Mos adults have already had and will ocassionally have cold sores come back. Same with children although it is quite unpredictable.
I have oral herpes (hiv 1). If I kiss someone who has hiv 1 in their system will they get a cold sore? I've gotten cold sores since I was a kid.
Not from your kiss. A person who already has HSV 1 in their system may get a cold sore, but it will not be from your kiss.
My girlfriend had a cold sore on her lip. I kissed her, then got about 3 cold sores near my throat. A day later I gave her oral sex. She get gen. Herpes?
Cold sores. Usually caused by herpes simplex type 1 while genital herpes is caused by herpes simplex type 11. However you could transmit the genital herpes caused by herpes type1 by performing oral sex when you have blisters. Similarly you can develop cold sores caused by herpes type 11 if you perform oral sex on somebody with genital herpes. Stay safe.
Possibly. Your GF had oral herpes which you got from her. Yes your GF has possibility of getting genital herpes.
That is possible. You can get the herpes simplex type I virus if you kiss someone with that virus.
Is it possible to get genital herpes if I have a cold sore, kiss my partner, and then let my partner go down on me?
Herpes transmission. Two types of herpes are recognized, one mainly on the face, eyes, and oral cavity, the second in the genital areas. But, there are exceptions and one type may affect the other area. So while unlikely, the answer is still yes. Oral fluids contain virus, which may be ping-ponged from you to partner, and back. And once established in a tissue, herpes is there permanently. Don't take chances.
Possibly have a cold sore, kissed girlfriend who doesn't have one and then she gave oral sex. I'm very worried. What is the odds I get genital herpes?
She would have to. Be infected to transmit it to you.
Viral exposure. The oral herpes virus is very common and can unfortunately manifest as lesions on post the lips and the genitals. If either of you has the virus and have engaged in oral sex, then transmission is possible. Nevertheless if you maintain good health and community than the likelihood of recurrence and symptoms will be low. Fortunately herpes is treatable, but you guys should talk about it together.
None. No chance of getting genital herpes from kissing someone on the mouth. However if one engages in oral sex then the herpes virus can be transmitted from the mouth to the genitals or vice versa. Genital herpes is usually herpes simplex type 2, but can also be type 1. Mouth/lip cold sores are usually herpes simplex type 1.
What are the chances of getting oral herpes from my girlfriend if she passionately kissed someone else who doesn't have an a noticeable cold sore?
Cold sore. If a cold sore wasn't noticable there is an excellent chance you will not get oral herpes from kissing your girlfriend.
Wondering if it's herpes if a 6 year old gets a cold sore? Obviously he hasnt kissed anyone before is it herpes?
Yes. A cold sore is another name for a herpes sore. Most children I see with their first episode of herpes are about 2 years old. It is usually from being kissed by a parent or relative with the active infection.
Yes and no. Cold sores are of bacterial origin but herpes is a virus. Either can be passed by contact so you should refrain from contact.
Yes. If you have cold sore blisters it is best not to share eating utensils, chap sticks or lips sticks or kiss in order to prevent spreading the infection to someone else.
Have kissed someone who had a cold sore months before kissing me. Does this mean I automatically have herpes? It has been 7 weeks and no symptoms.
Not necessarily. Herpes transmission is not 100%, but many people who get herpes may also have it subclinically (i.e., without overt symptoms). At this point, there is no reason to worry about it.
