Why am I bleeding after a partial hysterectomy?

After hysterectomy. If you had a supracervical hysterectomy it is not unusual to have mild light periods, depending on how much endometrial tissue is left behind. If your uterus and cervix were both removed, than any bleeding needs to be immediately investigated. Please contact your surgeon's office to set up an appointment.

Why am I spot bleeding after having a partial, partial hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and cervix. I had my surgery done 01/04/11?

Residual tissue. With a partial hysterectomy, there can be some glands left behind in the cervix that still function like a uterus. These are responsive to hormones and can bleed. This could also be a sign of cervical dysplasia (abnormal cells) or infection. I recommend that you see a gynecologist soon to have this evaluated as it can be serious and it is treatable. Why is my mother in law still bleeding after a partial hysterectomy?

Hysterectomy bleedin. If she just had a hysterectomy, it may just be healing. If she had a hysterectomy a couple of months ago, she may have granulation tissue that may need to be cauterized. If they left her cervix, she can bleed from it. If it has been longer, she need to be evaluated. It may just be due to atrophy (thinning) of the vaginal tissue, but you need to make sure there is nothing significant going on. Read more...

Bleeding 20 years after partial hysterectomy?

Not normal. If you had a partial hysterectomy (uterus only removed and ovaries/tubes left in) 20 years ago and are now having vaginal bleeding, you need to have it investigated as this would not be expected to occur at this stage of life. See your usual doctor to discuss. If he/she is unable to assess, then request referral to an ob/gyn physician. Read more...

Why would I bleeding 20 years after partial hysterectomy?

Vaginal atrophy. It needs to be clarified whether or not you still have a cervix. If you still have a cervix, then you might be bleeding from the cervix. If you do not have a cervix, then vaginal bleeding is probably related to "thinning" and fragility of the vagina that comes with menopause. In either case, you must schedule a visit with an ob/gyn. I was on depo from 94-2011 and had an oblation then had partial hysterectomy in 2014 and now last week I started bleeding. I've not had cycle since I?

Bleeding after Hyst. should be checked out by your GYN surgeon. The GYN surgeon will do an exam and identify if the cause of bleeding is from the upper vagina, or from somewhere else. Every hysterectomy, unless the cervix is left behind, has a place in the top of the vagina that gets sutured closed and should heal in around 6-8 weeks but sometimes granulation tissue forms which can bleed or spot later.
