What would your parent have to do with it ? Do you mean partner ? Condoms reduce but do not prevent all transfer of potentially infected fluids and do not protect skin not covered by the condom. They are a good basic form of protection, but not 100% protective.

Even persons that use condoms during sexual intercourse can get contagiated with a sexually transmitted disease. Depending on how it is used and type of condom (lambskin for example) condoms may not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.
