In brief: 0-7 weeks.
The most common method for treating breast cancer is external beam rt ("outside-in") given over 7 weeks; this can be accelerated over 4 weeks in some settings.
Brachytherapy is an option for some patients, where the rt is given from the "inside-out" over 5 days. A handful of centers are now offering intraoperative rt, popularized in europe, where the rt is given over minutes during lumpectomy.

Radiation Oncology
In brief: Varies by tumor
Dose and intent make this vary from a single day (gamma knife or bone mets) to some prostate cancer treatments (8.
5 weeks). In curative cases, 1.8 to 2.0 of our units (gy) are given to doses from 20 to 81 units... We use bigger doses per day when it makes sense too. So, it is variable.

Breast Surgery
In brief: 6-8 weeks
In general, whole breast radiation (XRT) lasts 6-8 weeks, given 1 time a day, 5 days a week (you get weekends off).
There are some new protocols that can reduce this time to 4-5 weeks. There is also brachytherapy, where a balloon can be placed in the lumpectomy site. This is given 2 times a day for 5 days.
