Azithromycin is a 5 day antibiotic and therefore if you are not significantly better in a week, the antibiotic is not effective.
It is imperative for both physicians and patients to know that zithromax has no antibacterial activity against h. Influenza, an extremely common pathogen causing infections in the upper respiratory tract. Therefore it is not the antibiotic of choice for tonsillitis.
