Yes. I use it quite frequently as a loosening agent. Avoiding excesses of constipating foods like bananas, rice cereal, & applesauce also helps. Prune, pear or peach nectar & apple juice are all helpful.
Yes. Daily prune juice is safe. Avoid too much milk as it can cause constipation (less than 18 to 20 ounces a day). Mac and cheese is also constipating. Lots of fruits and veggies are good if possible. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) and milk of magnesia are safe in children if you need a medication.
My 3 year old daughter has been constipated. I was able to soften her stools by giving her a little prune juice everyday. She had 2 days of really good bowel movements, but hasn't gone at all today. Now tonight she has a fever. Could this be related to th
Unlikely. She may have a problem with constipation but if she is sick with a fever it is likely to be an infection she picked up. She may have other signs such as cough, cold or upset stomach. If fever is high or does not get better please see her doctor for a check up.
3yr old on amoxil (amoxicillin) for 2days for scarlet fever has not have bowel movement in 5 days. How much prune juice is safe to give and what else to do?
Prune juice solution. When a child runs a fever he tends to dry up and consequently the stool dries up a child becomes constipated. That's why it's important to push fluids. Four to five ounces of prune juice should be a big help.
Prune juice fine. You can use 1-2 oz of full strength prune juice 1-2x daily for 2-3 days to get a 3yo kid moving. It's likely the minimal intake has slowed things down. It may take 2-3 days to see the juice work. Increase other fluids & work with it.
No. Prune juice is a poor laxative. Most people should be on a daily fiber supplement/laxative.
Can I give my 3 week old a little prune juice in her bottle? She is having a terrible time with bowel movements
OK. Small amount will be all right. Also talk to babys pediatritian if problem persists.
Yes. I use full strength prune or apple juice in quantities of an ounce 1-2x daily for this issue. It can take 2-3 days to help but is quicker in some.
2 questions, is it OK to give a 5 yr old prune juice? Does a 5 yr old need to have a bowel movement everyday
Yes OK, ideal but... It's fine to give a 5 yo prune juice, a safe and gentle laxative. No one absolutely needs to have a bowel movement every single day, though I believe it is best for our health to do so. But if the child has no distress it is not essential. Minimize need for prune juice with a high-fiber diet (rich in fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts), lots of water and physical activity. Probiotics may help too.
My 5 month old daughter screams each time she has a bowel movement. She was constipated so we were giving her prune juice. It's not as thick now.
Constipation checkup. Constipation at this age needs to be checked to rule out other medical condition that can cause discomfort while passing BM, such as a rectal fissure and other digestive problem. Prune juice and Karo syrup can provide temp relief & Vegie baby foods Adjust dose if BM's get loose. If baby is on formula, a change may be beneficial. Some breast fed babies, whose mothers have cnstipation show the sign.
