In brief: Pertussis comeback

Whooping cough is back since adults who were immunized get no/mild disease but, we can pass it on to young ones who have incomplete/no immunity.
If you think your 2-yr-old has it, get to the pediatrician/hospital immediately for treatment. It's caused by a bacterium so, you need to get teh antibiotics started as soon as the diseasee is confirmed. Also, do not give kids cough medicine for this.

In brief: How much under 2 ?

Whooping cough is most deadly to those under 6 months of age with lessening mortality risk as the get older / larger. The coughing fits of any kid can be bad enough to trigger a stroke/brain injury/death but the older kids tolerate the process better.
