In brief: Multiple causes

Snoring can be due to enlarged tonsils, adenoids, enlarged nasal turbinates, deviated nasal septum etc.
Have your child be evaluated by a doctor.

In brief: Childhood Snoring

Snoring in most children is about stuffy nose with swollen nasal membranes, big adenoids, and big tonsils.
The greater the weight of the child, the bigger the effect of an enlarged tongue also. Go see your child's pediatrician or family doctor. Start with medications to help relieve stuffy nose. If not getting better, and sleep quality is poor due to the snoring, consider obtaining a sleep study.
