In brief: Several ways
Dehydration can be determined best when you have a recent weight to compare to, but the signs on the baby are decreased tears or no tears, decreased saliva to the point of stickiness of the saliva (thick, tacky) , decreased skin turgor, sunken eyes and soft spot and lastly decreased urination.
