Hepatitis b virus (hbv) core antibody tells if you've been infected.
If you are HBV core negative and HBV surface antibody positive, you fought off the infection and have natural immune protection. If you are HBV core positive and HBV surface antigen positive, you still may have active virus and need to be tested to see if there is detectable HBV dna in your blood.
