In brief: See details

I assume you mean an MRI and not a brain scan.
There are several issues that cause similar MRI findings including Lyme disease, vasculitis and other infections. The diagnosis of MS is made of the basis of the clinical findings and analysis of spinal fluid as well as the MRI. Discuss this issue with the doctor who ordered the test.

In brief: Lyme Disease/Mercury

A common condition that mimics MS is Lyme Disease.
Many doctors who are knowledgeable about Lyme feel about half of those diagnosed with MS actually have Lyme. It's important to rule out Lyme, as Lyme is more readily treated than MS & MS treatments can worsen Lyme.
