Over 100 million women in Africa & Middle East have been victims of female genital mutilation. We shouldn't call anything elsse than mutilation.

I'd guess it's many more than that, although the exact number isn't known. The American College of OB Gyn condemn the procedure as medically unnecessary, morbid, and extremely risky. Because it is very deep in some cultures it is difficult to discourage the practice.
