In brief: Water in baby's lung
The baby lives in amniotic fluid which is also in the baby's lungs.
When a baby is born thru the birth canal, the fluid is squeezed out of the lungs. When a baby is taken from mom's tummy , the fluid is still present and can cause a temporary shortness of breath in the baby. This is called ttn.
