What is benign teratoma?

Teratomas. Teratomas are a type of tumor or mass made up of different types of tissues. They are congenital (meaning they are present at the time of birth) but may not be detected until later in life. Teratomas can be benign or malignant. Benign means the teratoma is non-cancerous and won't spread to other parts of the body.
Rare condition. It is a benign tumor, often found in ovary or in testes. Some teratomas are cancerous in which case they may require chemotherapy but a benign one can be handled with surgery alone and it should be curable.
