In brief: A LONG TIME
The drug pipeline for cancer therpy may take 5 to 7 yr to reach market and only a minority of potential therapies achieve market status.
Selection trials at all phases of development are quite expensive and sometimes hard to achieve.

In brief: A few years
I would guess 10-15 years at best.
It`s a process. Initially compounds are used on cancer cell lines, then animal models and finally in human trials known as phase 1, 2 and 3 trials before getting fda approval.
