In brief: Hair loss

There are treatments for female hair loss depending on the cause of the hair loss.
For female patterned hair loss, there are medications, such as minoxidil, that could be tried. See your doctor for complete evaluation and medication recommendations.

In brief: Yes, it often does.

Yes, it often does.
Make sure that you do not have an unrelated (acquired) disease that is causing it! common cause of "male pattern" hair thinning is upregulation of androgen receptors. The old belief that it is "hormone imbalance" is often incorrect, as shown by the normal hormone blood levels. Androgen receptor blockers (like cimetidine) may help. Topical cream is preferable to oral pills.
